Description of the on-going research: | We investigate cold atoms, cooled and trapped in magneto-optical traps by laser cooling techniques. We explore novel phenomena that arise when the mechanical action on cold atoms is induced by frequency comb (FC) excitation, including entanglement and decoherence, near-resonance dipole trap, and frequency-comb-induced cavity cooling. |

Description of the on-going research: | We investigate disordered quantum models by field theoretical methods and aim to understand the underlying mathematical structures of the theories describing phase transitions of such models. For this we use a cutting edge theoretical formalism of nonperturbative renormalization group. We study different models, thus gaining insights from different sides into novel phenomena arising from the effects of disorder on critical correlations. Phenomena currently under investigation are: disorder induced phase transition in Weyl fermions and Anderson localization transition. |

Description of the on-going research: | We investigate quantum information in the form of spins and electric dipoles found in novel materials, including magnets with constrained dimensionality, magnetoelectrics and multiferroics etc. Strong interactions lead to quantum entanglement between charge, spin, orbit and lattice degrees of freedom in these unconventional systems. We use a wide range of condensed matter low-temperature techniques (ac/dc magnetometry, dielectric spectroscopy, specific heat, electric and heat transport in magnetic field and under pressure) to explore exotic ground states and emergent phenomena, such as quantum spin liquids, colossal magnetoresistance, non-linear optical response etc. |

Description of the on-going research: | Our scientific focus is on graphene and follow-up 2D materials which complement graphene and extend versatility regarding physical and chemical properties and related applications. The potential of 2D materials to revolutionize technologies was recognized globally, which poured considerable research funding around this topic. We have develop a concept based on a closed cycle of research involving different types of innovative synthesis, a broad range of characterization methods and a strong support in theoretical modeling. The capacities of the team are based on a broad expertise in versatile topics that is successfully streamed towards 2D materials-related research. Our aim is to promote competitive and internationally recognized level of research. |

Description of the on-going research: | We are constructing a high sensitivity displacement/force sensors to be used in fundamental research. The sensor based on a thin SiN membrane is used to detect the radiation pressure of hypotetical particles coming from the Sun. These particles called chameleons are candidates for Dark Energy. The sensitivty of the detector can be further improved by using squeezed light and/or optomechanical cooling of the membrane. The research is ongoing at CAST experiment at CERN. |
